week 5

I wanted to talk about the element of surprise and how it could be implemented. Given that they don't have the foggiest idea what's in store, you have the component of shock not too far off before you, so you can generally attempt to show them something they've never seen. There are such countless approaches to do this in the initial couple of moments of your film: give a sudden curve like in Ruler of War, compare an excellent scene with dismal music to establish an uncomfortable pace like in The Sparkling, or simply go for complete idiocy like in Monty Python's The Sacred goal. This would be great and kind of unique because a lot of people haven't talked about it or mentioned it at all.
